The Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) aims at correcting the imbalances in the availability of affordable healthcare facilities in the different parts of the country in general, and augmenting facilities for quality medical education in the under-served States in particular. PMSSY was first launched in March 2006 with the primary objective of correcting the imbalances in availability of affordable/reliable tertiary level healthcare in the country in general and to augment facilities for quality medical education in the under-served States.
AIIMS Bhopal is one of the apex healthcare institutes established by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY).
The construction activities of AIIMS Bhopal are supervised by Project Cell under the overall guidance of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The Project Cell consists of technical members i.e Superintending Engineer & Executive Engineer and non-technical members along with Engineers from HLL Lifecare Ltd. Subsequently it was felt that the Project Cell needs to be strengthened further, and as such, 6 more engineers were added to the existing team to assist the team in day to day works & for taking care of existing amenities and maintenance, AIIMS BHOPAL ENGINEERING UNIT (ABEU) was created on January 2014. ABEU functions under the overall leadership of the Director AIIMS Bhopal and Superintending Engineer AIIMS Bhopal.
